Inspection of Steering Components
In the production of steering components and systems for
off-road vehicles such as trucks and tractors Sauer-Danfoss wanted
thorough inspection to make sure that the correct size and number
of leaf springs was mounted, as well as verifying the correct
orientation of the product.
In order to secure the product quality a vision system from
Videometer combined with an automation solution from ProInvent was
implemented in the production line at Sauer-Danfoss. From previous
experience Sauer-Danfoss knew that this was a technically
challenging inspection problem.
It has proved possible to set up a robust and accurate system
taking care of both spring and orientation of other parts.
After successful installation in July 2005, Mr. Per S. Jensen from
Sauer-Danfoss stated: “We are very satisfied with the solution
from Videometer and ProInvent. Since the installation in August
2005 and 250.000 components produced we had absolutely no
complaints from our customers on the erroneous leaf springs in
steering component for off-road vehicles. Furthermore the system
has been implemented with a pay back time of less than one year”.
